Tasting Notes

In the glass, the NV André Jacquart 1er Cru Vertus “Experience” Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs shows a pale gold color with fine, persistent bubbles. The nose is precise and mineral-driven, with aromas of lemon, green apple, white peach and white flowers, alongside notes of chalk and subtle brioche. On the palate, the wine is linear and focused, with high acidity and a fine, silky mousse. The fruit is restrained, supported by a strong mineral backbone and a dry, clean finish that shows off its extra brut style.

Critical Acclaim:

94 points, James Suckling, August 2024. Pure white-flower character, such as linden tree, together with lime pulp and a whiff of chalky minerality. Silky mousse with tight and zesty acidity, medium body and a chewy finish with structure. Yet, a polished and refreshing finish. Restrained toastiness. Drink or hold. -J.S.

93 points, Planet Grape, December 2019. Exquisite silky texture with very long lasting and fine bubbles Rich and flavorful with notes of white peach, gala apple, toasted almond and brioche.

92 points, Wine Spectator, December 2019. A sleek Champagne, with flavors of white cherry and blood orange that are ripe and expressive, accented by honeysuckle, minerally chalk and sliced almond notes. Well-knit and fine in texture. Mouthwatering finish. Disgorged November 2017. Drink now through 2022. —A.N.

About the Producer

Champagne André Jacquart is a grower-producer based in Vertus in the Côte des Blancs, shaped by fifth-generation vigneron Marie Doyard, who took over in 2004 and modernized the estate while honoring its deep family roots. After consolidating family holdings into a new winery in 2010, she expanded the vineyards, introduced sustainable practices (earning HVE Level 3 certification in 2019), and refined a distinctive winemaking style. All wines are fermented in Burgundian oak barrels without malolactic fermentation and bottled with little to no dosage after extended lees aging, highlighting the precision and minerality of sites like Vertus and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. The result is a structured, dry, and site-driven Champagne that balances tradition with a contemporary, minimalist approach.
