Tasting Notes

Made from old-vine hillside Hondarrabi Beltza grown in chalky soils, this wine shows a pale color and a vibrant aromatic profile, with red currant, wild strawberry, and citrus peel accented by light herbal notes and a subtle salinity. The palate is brisk and linear, driven by fresh acidity, with tart raspberry, cranberry, and a touch of grapefruit, alongside un underscoring of minerality and a tangy, mouthwatering finish. And, at just 11% alcohol, it remains highly drinkable, day and night!

Pairing Block

Food Pairing

This style of rosé pairs naturally with the food traditions of the Basque coast, where freshness and simplicity define the cuisine. The wine’s acidity and light structure make it particularly well suited to seafood, especially dishes that emphasize natural flavors rather than heavy sauces. Grilled sardines, anchovies, or simply prepared shellfish align well with its saline and citrus-driven profile, while its slight spritz helps cleanse the palate. It also works effectively with lightly cured or marinated dishes, where its brightness offsets oil and enhances subtle seasoning.

About the Producer

Txomin Etxaniz is a historic estate owned by the Txueka family, with documented winemaking roots in Getaria dating back to 1649. In 1980, Iñaki Txueka played a key role in reviving local txakoli production and helped establish the Getariako Txakolina DO in 1989. Today, the family focuses exclusively on indigenous Hondarrabi Zuri and Hondarrabi Beltza, grown on steep coastal vineyards just 100 meters from the Atlantic, where high rainfall shapes viticulture. Vines are trained on pergolas and terraced trellises depending on slope, and the wines are fermented in stainless steel with native yeasts at low temperatures to retain slight natural carbonation, resulting in fresh, high-acid wines well suited to seafood.
