Terre di Sarizzola is a historic, family-run estate rooted in the Colli Tortonesi hills of southeastern Piedmont, with origins dating to the late 19th century when Pietro Penacca first established the property. Over successive generations—through Secondo and Franco Penacca—the estate evolved from small-scale, subsistence farming into a quality-focused winery with growing regional reach. Today, under the direction of Mattia Bellinzona, the estate continues this progression, combining modern viticultural and enological training with a strong respect for family tradition. Spanning roughly 100 hectares of vineyards, woodland, and agricultural land, Terre di Sarizzola operates as a diversified farm, with a clear commitment to sustainability, achieving organic certification in 2021 after years of integrated practices. The estate is particularly associated with the revival of Timorasso, the historic white grape of the region, producing both regional expressions such as Derthona and more focused single-vineyard wines like Biancornetto. Alongside its wines, the estate maintains a parallel tradition of artisanal salumi production, aged in historic cellars, reinforcing a broader identity rooted in local culture, agriculture, and craftsmanship.
