Tasting Notes

The Pala “Soprasole” Vermentino di Sardegna shows a pale straw color and an aromatic profile built on citrus, white peach, and light Mediterranean herbs, with a subtle saline note. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with fresh acidity, offering flavors of lemon, green apple, and a touch of almond. The wine remains clean and focused all the way to a lingering, lovely finish that calls for another glass.

Critical Acclaim:

91 Points, James Suckling. Aromas of white peaches and white flowers with subtle hints of almonds and pastry. Clean, polished and refreshing, with a backbone of vivid acidity. Lingering finish.

Pairing Block

Food Pairing

Vermentino from Sardinia pairs well with seafood, shellfish, and simply prepared fish, particularly when accented with olive oil, herbs, and citrus. Its bright acidity and saline character complement the freshness of coastal dishes while balancing light richness, making it a natural match for Mediterranean cuisine.

About the Producer

Cantina Pala, based in Serdiana in southern Sardegna, is a multigenerational family estate founded in 1950 by Salvatore Pala and later developed by his son Mario Pala into a focused producer of quality wines rooted in local tradition. Working primarily in the Parteolla zone, the winery draws on calcareous-clay soils and a warm, wind-influenced Mediterranean climate to produce wines that balance ripeness with freshness and subtle salinity. Pala has consistently emphasized indigenous Sardinian varieties such as Vermentino, Cannonau, Monica, and Carignano, favoring practical, low-intervention vineyard and cellar practices, including the use of stainless steel for whites to preserve clarity and varietal expression.
