2024 FUSO Terre Siciliane Bianco Macerato ‘Cala’

Aromas of orange peel, dried apricot, and citrus blossom emerge first, followed by hints of almond and Mediterranean herbs. On the palate, the wine shows moderate body with a textured mouthfeel. Flavors of preserved lemon, apricot, and green apple develop through the mid-palate, accompanied by subtle herbal and tea-like notes. Gentle tannins add to its structure, while its balanced acidity maintains freshness. The finish leaves impressions of citrus peel (mandarin) and a slight saline quality. 

FUSO is a collaborative wine project based in Italy that focuses on sourcing organically farmed fruit from small growers and producing wines that reflect regional traditions while remaining accessible in style. The project was developed by the natural wine importer Portovino, which works with growers throughout Italy who farm vineyards without synthetic chemicals and emphasize minimal-intervention cellar practices. Rather than representing a single estate, FUSO operates as a network of small producers, with each wine highlighting a particular region and grape variety.
