Tasting Notes

Critical Acclaim:

92 Points, Falstaff. Reviewed 10/14/2025 by Othmar Kiem, Simon Staffler. Bright ruby with garnet tones. Fruity, fresh bouquet with notes of sour cherry and cranberry, hints of hibiscus and a slightly smoky note. A silky structure on the palate, pronounced fruit on tightly woven tannins, tense and juicy right through to the finish.

About the Producer

Domenico Clerico was a key figure in the modernization of Barolo, known for helping shift the region toward a more site-focused and technically precise style while maintaining the structure of Nebbiolo. Founded in the late 1970s in Monforte d’Alba, the estate grew from small family holdings into one of the area’s leading producers, with important vineyards in crus such as Ginestra and Pajana. Clerico emphasized lower yields, careful vineyard work, and cleaner cellar practices, including controlled fermentations and measured use of oak, aiming for wines that balanced concentration with clarity. Since his passing in 2017, the estate has been led by his wife Giuliana Clerico and longtime collaborator Oscar Arrivabene, continuing the focus on vineyard expression and structured, age-worthy Barolo.
