Tasting Notes

In the glass, it shows a medium ruby color with lighter edges. The nose opens with red cherry, pomegranate, and wild strawberry, followed by notes of dried herbs, spice, and a light earthy undertone. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with fresh acidity, showing bright red fruit, subtle savory notes, and a mineral edge. The tannins are present but refined, giving it structure. The finish is clean and persistent, with lingering red fruit, spice, and a slightly stony character.

Pairing Block

Food Pairing

Areni Noir works best with dishes that balance moderate richness, bright acidity, and savory or herbal elements without heavy sauces. It pairs well with grilled lamb, roast chicken with herbs, or pork dishes with spice and citrus, where the wine’s acidity and structure complement the protein. It also pairs well with vegetable-driven dishes like eggplant, mushrooms, or lentils, which complement its earthy and herbal notes.

About the Producer

Zorah Wines was founded in 2000 by Zorik Gharibian, an Armenian-born entrepreneur who spent much of his career abroad before returning to Armenia with the goal of rebuilding a modern wine estate rooted in the country’s historical traditions. Rather than restoring an existing property, Gharibian started from the ground up, focusing on high-altitude vineyards and indigenous grape varieties. His work represents one of the early modern efforts to position Armenia as a serious fine wine producer on the international stage.
