Tasting Notes

In the glass, the wine shows a pale straw color with light green reflections. The nose is clean and precise, offering notes of lemon peel, green apple, white flowers, and a subtle saline edge. On the palate, it is dry, linear, and medium-bodied, with flavors of citrus, pear skin, and almond layered over a firm mineral backbone. Lees aging adds quiet texture without weight. The finish is crisp and persistent, marked by gentle bitterness and stony notes typical of Vernaccia grown on calcareous soils.

Pairing Block

Food Pairing

Vernaccia di San Gimignano in this pure, steel-aged style pairs best with dishes that emphasize freshness, moderate richness, and clean flavors. Think seafood, light poultry, and vegetable-driven preparations where acidity and mineral structure can play a central role.

About the Producer

Montenidoli is based just outside the town of San Gimignano, in Tuscany, where vineyards occupy some of the highest elevations in the appellation. The estate’s history stretches back to the Middle Ages, when Montenidoli functioned as a self-sustaining agricultural property supplying food and wine to the surrounding area. Its position on the hills above the Elsa Valley has been favorable for viticulture, thanks to its elevation, wind exposure, and poor, rocky soils that naturally limit yields.
