Tasting Notes

60% Grenache, 30% Caringnan, 10% Syrah

This opens with vibrant aromas of red cherry, wild strawberry, and raspberry, followed by hints of dried herbs and a light mineral note. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied and supple, with fresh red fruit framed by fine, unobtrusive tannins. Garnacha’s natural warmth is balanced by lively acidity, giving the wine a sense of lift.

Pairing Block

Food Pairing

Reds from Priorat offer substantial richness, firm structure, and a warm, mineral-driven profile that make them great to pair with savory dishes with depth, roasted elements, and moderate to high richness. Their weight and concentration complement grilled or slow-cooked meats, hearty stews, and dishes with herbs or gentle spice, while their freshness and mineral edge keep powerful flavors balanced. These wines pair best with lamb, beef, roasted vegetables, and robust Mediterranean fare where intensity, structure, and earthy depth align with their bold character.

About the Producer

Founded in 2003 and based in Capçanes in the DO Montsant, Josep Grau Viticultor farms roughly 26 hectares of organically certified vineyards planted mainly to Garnatxa, Carinyena, and Syrah on clay, granite, and slate soils. Vineyard work is fully manual with an emphasis on low yields, biodiversity, and preserving old vines across multiple parcels. Fermentations rely on native yeasts, often with whole clusters, and aging is carried out in large neutral foudres, concrete, or clay amphora to avoid overt oak influence.
