Tasting Notes

Critical Acclaim:

93 Points, Tim Atkin, MW, Review Date, 2024-12-16. ”Etiqueta Ambar uses grapes from vineyards that are over 40 years' old, mostly in Cambadosand Mea¤o in the Salnes Valley on sand and granite soils. Almost Riesling like in terms of structure and acidity † Diego R¡os worked in the Mosel Valley † this is stony and intense, with layers of lime cordial, green apple and lemon zest and impressive extract. 2024-29."

92 Points, James Suckling, Review Date, 2024-08-09. ”A fresh and pure Rias Baixas that has notes of lemons, grapefruit and peaches on the nose. It's medium-bodied and saline with a refreshing finish. Vegan. Drink now."

90 Points, Vinous, Review Date, 2025-03-11. ”The 2023 Albariño Granbazán Etiqueta Ámbar, sourced from Val do Salnés, undergoes a few hours of skin contact before fermenting and aging eight months on lees. Yellow in color, it presents aromas of white peach, orange blossom and candied citrus. The palate is dry, light and delicately fresh with a slight spritz adding texture. The contrast between the lush nose and the lean palate is intriguing and flavorful."

Food Pairing

Albariño’s vibrant citrus profile, saline edge, and brisk acidity make it especially suited to fresh, coastal-inspired dishes. Its combination of citrus peel, stone fruit, and subtle floral notes complements herbs, bright aromatics, and preparations that highlight the purity of seafood. The wine’s lively, mouthwatering finish pairs best with shellfish, grilled fish, light tapas, and vegetable-driven plates where salt, freshness, and subtle spice enhance its coastal clarity and precision.

About the Producer

Bodegas Granbazán is a key producer in Rías Baixas DO, founded in the early 1980s during the region’s shift toward quality-focused, estate-bottled wines. Located in the Val do Salnés subzone near the Atlantic, the estate farms Albariño on granitic, sandy soils, with vineyards trained on traditional pergola systems to manage humidity and airflow in the region’s cool, wet climate. The maritime conditions support slow ripening and help preserve acidity, contributing to the fresh, structured style typical of the wines. In the cellar, Granbazán uses temperature-controlled stainless steel fermentation and occasional lees aging to retain aromatic clarity and add texture, producing wines that emphasize precision, balance, and a clear expression of Albariño and its coastal environment.
