Tasting Notes

This wine is fermented and aged in tank and remains un-oaked to preserve the natural flavors of the wine. It has a full nose of fall fruits, with notes of green pear, ripe apple, melon, and lemon/lime citrus.  It is super crisp and dry with vibrant fruit flavors, a light creamy texture, and a savory core of minerals that follow through to a refreshing finish.

Food Pairing

This is a great choice to pull as a refresher on any weeknight evening, or pair it up with pan-seared scallops in a mango salsa, a lemon/caper roasted chicken breast, poached salmon fillets, or a goat cheese/pear salad. Other pairing ideas include serving this with roasted chicken, white fish like halibut or cod, shrimp served as scampi, or sautéed with herbs and butter over pasta.

About the Producer

The story behind this wine begins in 1978, when the Couillaud brothers bought land in the Loire Valley that hadn’t yet been fully planted. Curious about what could grow beyond the region’s dominant grapes—Melon de Bourgogne and Folle Blanche—Bernard Couillaud took a chance on Chardonnay. After studying in Chablis, he planted 42 acres of it over three years, beginning in 1987. Today, his daughter Amélie Dugué-Couillaud and her husband continue the project, farming sustainably and producing a range of whites and reds known for their clarity and balance.
