Tasting Notes

70% Montepulciano, 30% Sangiovese

Ripe black cherry and plum lead on the nose, followed by notes of blackberry, dried herbs, and subtle spice. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, with concentrated, dark fruit supported by firm but integrated tannins. Acidity provides lift through the mid-palate, keeping the wine focused and preventing heaviness. Savory and lightly earthy notes emerge toward the finish, which is refreshingly balanced and fresh.

Pairing Block

Food Pairing

Montepulciano-dominant blends from the Marche offer warm richness, steady acidity, and approachable structure, making them especially suited to savory dishes with moderate depth and simple, herbal elements. Their weight and gentle spice complement tomato-based preparations, grilled meats, and hearty vegetable plates, while their balance keeps rustic or comfort-style foods feeling lifted. These wines pair best with pasta with red sauces, roasted pork or poultry, pizzas, and regional Italian fare

About the Producer

Founded in 1984 by Ercole and Angela Velenosi in Ascoli Piceno, Velenosi is a modern estate that now farms more than 100 hectares across the Marche, including vineyards in the Offida, Rosso Piceno, and Falerio zones. The winery works with both local and international varieties, focusing on Pecorino, Passerina, Montepulciano, and Sangiovese, alongside select plantings of Chardonnay and Merlot. Vineyard management follows sustainable practices suited to the region’s clay-limestone soils and inland-marine influences.
