Taste Block

Tasting Notes

32% Syrah and the remainder is a blend of Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot

Aromas of blackberry, dark cherry, and plum open the wine, accompanied by hints of violet, black pepper, and Mediterranean herbs. On the palate, the wine shows a medium-to-full structure with ripe dark fruit supported by supple tannins. Flavors of cassis, blackberry, and black plum unfold across the mid-palate, complemented by subtle notes of spice and earth. The acidity provides freshness without dominating the fruit, and the finish is moderately persistent with lingering dark fruit and gentle savory tones.

Critical Acclaim:

93 Points, James Suckling. It’s wonderfully polished and rich with smooth, velvety tannins. Lovely depth of fruit.

92 Points, Wine Spectator. Shows good varietal character, with saturated blackberry, violet, ink and smoked bacon aromas and flavors. Well-structured yet harmonious and really sings on the lingering aftertaste. – Bruce Sanderson

90 Points, Vinous. …. Is a gorgeous, racy wine that captures all the allure of Bolgheri.

About the Producer

Tenuta di Biserno is a modern Tuscan estate located in Bibona, in the Alta Maremma near Bolgheri, founded in 2001 by Lodovico Antinori after his work establishing Ornellaia. The project reflects Antinori’s continued focus on Bordeaux varieties in coastal Tuscany, with vineyards planted primarily to Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Petit Verdot on alluvial soils rich in limestone and clay. The estate is designed around parcel selection and site expression, with each vineyard block vinified separately and blended with a clear structural goal in mind. Biserno’s wines are typically polished and structured, combining ripe Mediterranean fruit with firm tannins and freshness, and positioned within the broader “Super Tuscan” tradition that emphasizes international varieties interpreted through Tuscan terroir.
