From: Bibbona, Tuscany, Italy
Varietal: Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot
Taste: The wine shows an intense, vibrant purple-red color with violet highlights. On the nose, it leads with floral violet notes, wild berries, and light peppery spice, supported by classic Mediterranean herbs like myrtle and rosemary. Subtle boisée tones and delicate roasting accents are well-integrated. The palate is fresh and medium-bodied with soft, rounded tannins and excellent flow. The balance of aromatic richness and acidity makes the wine both structured and highly drinkable, finishing with gentle persistence and a savory, herbal echo.
Pairing: This coastal Tuscan blend is designed for versatility, offering enough structure to complement grilled meats and sufficient freshness for weeknight dishes. It pairs well with roasted pork, lamb, or beef, especially when accompanied by herbs like rosemary or thyme. Grilled sausages with lentils or a mushroom and pancetta ragù over polenta highlight the Syrah and Merlot components.
About: Tenuta di Biserno is located in Bibbona, a coastal Tuscan town situated just south of Bolgheri, within the province of Livorno. The estate was established in the late 1990s by Marchese Lodovico Antinori, a name already synonymous with the modern renaissance of Tuscan wine. Lodovico founded Tenuta di Biserno after parting ways with Ornellaia, the pioneering Bolgheri estate he also founded. The decision to initiate a new project arose after a land survey revealed the unique terroir of Bibbona, situated adjacent to but distinct from Bolgheri, with a cooler microclimate and diverse soil types, offering new potential for Bordeaux varieties.
