Tasting Notes

Nebbiolo (Picotener) (65%), Barbera (30%), Neretta (5%)

From the importer. This lovely red wine, vinified in stainless steel and bottled 12 to 15 months after harvest, is full of wild berries (notably strawberry and raspberry), spice and a touch of warm earthiness. The tannins are delicate and fine which enables this wine to be consumed with pleasure in its youth. As always with Nebbiolo-based wines, harvest occurs usually in the early to mid parts of October.

About the Producer

Luigi Ferrando is a leading producer in the Canavese area of Piedmont, with a family winemaking history dating back to 1900 and a longstanding commitment to preserving local grape varieties and traditions. Based around Carema, where steep, terraced vineyards sit at the edge of the Alps near Monte Bianco, the estate produces distinctive expressions of Nebbiolo known for finesse and longevity, alongside wines from lower-altitude sites near Caluso, including those made from the native white grape Erbaluce. Now joined by his sons Roberto and Andrea, Ferrando continues to balance tradition and regional identity, with wines that were once little known outside the area but have gained increasing recognition for their singular alpine character.
