Tasting Notes

58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 38% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot

In the glass, it shows a deep ruby color with garnet edges. The nose is restrained and precise, offering red and dark fruit of blackcurrant, plum, and cherry, alongside notes of cedar, spice, and subtle earth. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with firm, structured tannins and balanced acidity. The fruit is fresh and defined rather than opulent, supported by a lightly savory and mineral undertone. The finish is dry and composed, with lingering fruit, gentle spice, and a classic, structured profile.

About the Producer

The second wine of Château de Pez reflects the long history and modern evolution of one of Saint-Estèphe’s oldest properties, with origins dating to the 15th century and renewed focus following its acquisition by Louis Roederer in 1995. Sourced from younger vines or parcels not selected for the grand vin, it is produced with the same attention to vineyard management and sustainable practices applied across the estate’s gravel, clay, and limestone soils. The wine is intended as a more approachable expression of the property, offering earlier drinkability while maintaining the structure and regional character typical of Saint-Estèphe.
