From: Corsini, Monforte d'Alba, Piedmont, Italy
Varietal: Nebbiolo

Taste: This wine is a deep garnet hue with brick reflections at the rim. The nose is layered, initially presenting notes of dark cherry, dried rose, and tobacco leaf, followed by those of forest floor, tar, and spiced orange peel. The palate is firm and structured, with grainy tannins and a focused core of black cherry, crushed violets, and iron-rich earth. There’s a graphite tension mid-palate, along with accents of balsamic, licorice root, and dried sage. The wine finishes long and dry, framed by persistent tannins, mineral length, and subtle citrus pith bitterness.

Pairing: Barolo’s taut structure and high acidity pair well with dishes that offer richness, umami depth, and sufficient protein or fat to balance its tannic profile. Begin with foundational pairing rules: slow-cooked meats, aged ingredients, or complex seasoning with herbal, nutty, or earthy components. Classic pairings include braised beef short ribs or osso buco with gremolata.

About: Podere Ruggeri Corsini, established in 1995 by agronomists and oenologists Loredana Addari and Nicola Argamante, is situated in the hamlet of Corsini in Monforte d'Alba, Italy. The couple left their academic careers to focus on winemaking in the Langhe region. Today, while Loredana and Nicola remain actively involved in the winery, their daughters, Francesca and Vittoria Argamante, now manage the entire operation. Francesca oversees winemaking, while Vittoria handles operations. Both are actively engaged in vineyard management, where their mother continues to offer guidance. Their father, Nicola, plays a key role in the cellar, particularly when the sisters travel for marketing and brand expansion.
