Tasting Notes

90% Tempranillo, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon

This opens with aromas of blackberry, black cherry, and plum, followed by notes of cocoa, vanilla, and subtle dried herbs. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied and polished, with ripe dark fruit supported by smooth, well-integrated tannins. Acidity provides lift and prevents the wine from feeling heavy, while oak contributes gentle spice and texture rather than sweetness. The finish is direct, dry, and rich, marked by dark fruit and lingering spices.

Pairing Block

Food Pairing

Ribera del Duero Tempranillo pairs best when you match its firm tannins and concentrated fruit with dishes that have enough protein and savory depth, especially grilled or roasted meats and slow-cooked preparations. Herbs, smoke, and gentle spice—think rosemary, thyme, paprika, garlic, or mild chiles—act as natural bridges to the wine’s red and dark-fruit character. Avoid heavy sweetness and very sharp, high-acid sauces, and instead choose dishes with balanced acidity and a savory core so the wine’s structure and fruit stay in line.

About the Producer

Founded in the late 1990s on an estate with viticultural history dating back centuries, Finca Villacreces is located on the “golden mile” of Ribera del Duero near Quintanilla de Onésimo, farming about 64 hectares of vineyards bordered by the Duero River and old pine forest. The site is planted mainly to Tempranillo along with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot on gravel, sand, and clay soils at elevations around 700 meters. The estate follows sustainable vineyard practices, using hand harvesting and careful parcel selection to manage maturity in the region’s continental climate. Fermentations use stainless steel and concrete, with aging in French oak tailored to each cuvée.
