Tasting Notes

Aromas of red cherry, blackberry, and raspberry lead the nose, accompanied by wafting, ethereal notes of rose petal, forest floor, and spice. On the palate, the wine shows medium body with firm, yet refined tannins and balanced acidity. Flavors of cherry, red plum skin, and red currant unfold through the mid-palate, followed by mossy earth, dried herbs, umami-laden flavors, subtle baking spices, and a bit of truffle. The finish is persistent and structured, and is a highlight of this vintage.

About the Producer

Domaine Albert Grivault is a historic family estate based in Meursault, within the Côte de Beaune district of Burgundy. The domaine was established in the nineteenth century and has remained in family hands for generations, developing a reputation for carefully crafted wines that emphasize vineyard character. While the estate is particularly well known for its white wines from Meursault, it also produces Pinot Noir from parcels in neighboring villages such as Pommard. Like many traditional Burgundy domaines, Grivault works with small vineyard holdings divided among several sites. Vineyard management focuses on maintaining balanced vine growth and low yields in order to ensure concentration and clarity of fruit. Winemaking tends to follow a restrained approach designed to highlight terroir: fermentations occur with careful extraction, and the wines are aged in French oak barrels to build structure while preserving aromatic precision.
