Tasting Notes

60% Grenache Noir, 20% Syrah, 20% Mourvèdre

This wine shows a bright ruby color with moderate depth. The nose is clean and expressive, offering red and dark fruit—cherry, raspberry, and plum—alongside notes of black pepper, dried herbs, and a subtle earthy undertone. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, with balanced acidity and supple tannins supporting flavors of red berry, spice, and a touch of garrigue. The finish is dry, smooth, and moderately persistent, emphasizing drinkability and regional character.

Food Pairing

Red wines from Côtes du Rhône AOC based on Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre pair well with grilled or roasted meats, where their combination of ripe fruit, spice, and moderate tannin complements both char and richness. Dishes featuring Mediterranean herbs, garlic, and olive oil—such as lamb, sausages, or vegetable stews—align naturally with the wine’s savory and garrigue-driven profile.

About the Producer

Domaine de Chantepierre has been set up in Tavel for more than three centuries, and been farmed by generations of the Paly family within living memory. The company is co- managed by siblings Anne Luce Coulomb Paly and Christian Paly. The 65-hectare domaine mainly produces Tavel, Lirac, and Côtes du Rhône. Regional grape varieties and diverse terroir allow the Chantepierre estate to offer a beautiful range of charming wines.

This wine comes from vines averaging 25 years old, planted clay and limestone soils. It is produced at the Cave de Vignerons de Tavel, from a vineyard owned by the President of the Cave Cooperative, Christian Padie. The Cave de Tavel represents 85 growers, which accounts for almost half of the production in the appellation. Paul Sanches makes the wines from vineyards near Châteauneuf du Pape and Avignon. Stainless fermentation and frequent pumping over the must produces a lush, rich CDR that over delivers for its gentle price.
