Taste Block

Tasting Notes

Rich, dark fruit notes lead to blackberry, black cherry, and ripe plum, followed by warming notes of cocoa and baking spice. On the palate, the wine is structured and concentrated, with firm tannins and well-developed dark fruits that mirror the nose, balanced by steady acidity and integrated oak, leading to a sustained, moderately extended finish. There is evident Toro typicity here, including depth of color and robust structure, yet the wine maintains composure and clarity rather than excess weight.

Pairing Block

Food Pairing

Tinto de Toro from Toro offers concentrated structure, firm tannins, and a warm, powerful profile that suit dishes with bold seasoning and ample richness. Its depth and intensity work naturally with grilled ribeye, roasted lamb, and slow-cooked meats, as well as hearty vegetable preparations with char or spice like alder-grilled salmon or coffee-rubbed smoked brisket. The wine’s weight and grip allow it to handle robust, rustic fare while maintaining balance and drive.

About the Producer

Founded in the late 1990s and based in Toro in the province of Zamora, Frontaura & Victoria farms roughly 120 hectares of vineyards planted primarily to Tinta de Toro, the local expression of Tempranillo, on sandy and clay soils at elevations around 700 meters. The estate includes a high percentage of old vines, many ungrafted, managed with sustainable vineyard practices suited to the region’s continental climate and low rainfall.
