Tasting Notes

Winemaker Notes: The best Savagnin is produced from poor soils underlain with “marne grise” and the Crinquand Savagnin is planted in a singular one hectare parcel of this compact grey marl. Vinified in large, old oak barrels and left there to age about four years before bottling, Crinquand’s Savagnin is a profound wine marked by notes of beeswax, cacao and walnut with a penetrating, long, almost tannic finish.

About the Producer

Based in Pupillin within the Arbois AOC, the Overnoy-Crinquand domaine is a three-generation family estate that combines viticulture with broader polycultural farming. Managed in part by Mikael Crinquand, the estate operates organically across all activities, including vineyards, livestock for Comté cheese production, and cereal crops. The 5.5 hectares of steep, slope-side vineyards in the La Bidode sector are planted to classic Jura varieties—Ploussard, Trousseau, Savagnin, and Chardonnay—and are harvested entirely by hand. Winemaking follows a traditional, low-intervention approach, resulting in wines that reflect the distinctive character of the Jura, with most production sold directly to private clients and only limited quantities available for export.
