Taste: In the glass, the wine shows a pale straw hue with green reflections. The nose opens with delicate white blossoms, citrus peel, and pear skin, underscored by hints of almond and wild herbs. On the palate, it’s medium-bodied and vibrant, showing flavors of white peach, Meyer lemon, and crushed stone. A gentle, savory note and light, bitter-almond finish add complexity and length. The texture is sleek and finely knit, with a crisp line of acidity that carries the wine through a clean, saline finish.
Pairing: Arneis’s freshness and textural balance make it an ideal pairing with dishes built on subtlety and contrast—bright, citrus-accented flavors, fresh herbs, and gentle salt or spice. For general pairings, aim to highlight freshness rather than weight: seafood, vegetables, and light poultry are excellent pairings.
About: Cà Gialla is the personal project of Marco Porello, the third generation of his family to produce wines in Roero, Piedmont. While Marco’s main focus remains the family’s historic estate, Porello Vini, the Cà Gialla label represents his opportunity to craft small-lot wines that capture a more intimate and expressive side of Roero’s terroir. The name Cà Gialla—meaning “yellow house”—refers to the nickname of the home where Marco’s cellar is located, a nod to the ochre-hued houses typical of the region.
