Tasting Notes

The La Posta Fazzio Malbec opens with a clear sense of red and black fruit, notably fresh plum and red currant, set against hints of violet and subtle orange rind on the nose. There’s a restrained wood influence that lends soft baking spice and a touch of mocha in the background without overpowering its fruit core. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, with lively tension: juicy black-fruit flavors are framed by moderate acidity and smooth, delicate tannins that provide structure without weight. Texture is supple and direct, carrying the fruit through to a balanced finish.

About the Producer

La Posta is a project rooted in Mendoza’s grower culture, created by Laura Catena in collaboration with winemaker Luis Reginato to spotlight small-family vineyards rather than produce estate-centric wines. Each bottling in the La Posta range is named after a grower family and sourced from a single vineyard, with the intent of expressing the diversity of terroir across Mendoza’s appellations. The name La Posta refers to a traditional meeting place or tavern where growers would gather to discuss vines and soil, underscoring the project’s emphasis on the people who farm the grapes rather than a centralized winery brand.

La Posta’s philosophy is straightforward: handpick fruit from dedicated growers, vinify it with minimal intervention, and let each site’s characteristics show through in the bottle. The wines have earned consistent recognition for quality relative to price, and critics have highlighted their balance between fruit concentration, freshness, and accessible structure.
