Azienda Agricola Accornero Giulio e Figli is a family-run winery in Vignale Monferrato, Piedmont, with roots stretching back to Bartolomeo Accornero in the late 19th century and four generations of continuous vine growing. The estate’s vineyards cover roughly 20 hectares around Cascina Ca’ Cima, and while the cellar uses modern equipment, winemaking remains grounded in traditional practices aimed at expressing the local terroir. The family produces a range of wines typical of Monferrato, including a Barbera del Monferrato DOC that is vinous, fruity, and characteristically lively.
This particular bottling, La Mattacchiona, is made from 100% Barbera, undergoes medium-long maceration, and is bottled after cold stabilization. The winery describes it as pleasant and slightly sparkling, with enough effervescence to give the wine freshness and versatility at the table. (We agree!)
