Tasting Notes

In the glass, the wine shows a deep ruby color with a violet edge. The nose opens with dark plum, blackberry, and fresh black cherry, supported by notes of dried herbs, cocoa, and a light floral lift. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with balanced acidity, with dark fruit, graphite, and a touch of savory spice from its time in older oak. The tannins are fine and even, leading to a clean finish with lingering notes of blackberry and cocoa powder.

Pairing Block

Food Pairing

Luján de Cuyo Malbec’s ripe dark fruit, polished tannins, and high-altitude freshness make it an ideal match for boldly seasoned, protein-driven dishes. Its mix of dark fruit, florals, and subtle spice complements charred or grilled elements, while its balanced structure stands up to richer cuts of meat without overwhelming them. The wine’s combination of power and lift pairs best with roasted or flame-grilled beef, lamb, and hearty Argentine-influenced fare, as well as dishes where smoke, herbs, or gentle heat enhance its depth and purity.

About the Producer

Bodega Calle is located in the historic Drummond district of Luján de Cuyo, a zone long recognized as one of Mendoza’s classic centers for Malbec. The winery occupies a restored early-20th-century cellar on Alberti Street—its address, Alberti 154, eventually becoming the name under which many of its wines are known. This renovation marked the start of a new chapter for the building, bringing small-scale, quality-focused production back to a site that had once been part of the region’s early viticultural expansion.
