Tasting Notes

This delicious Chablis opens with clean, focused aromas of lemon zest and green apple, framed by crushed-stone and saline minerality, typical of this Chablis Premier Cru. There are subtle hints of ripe pear and white flowers, with a tight, stony impression more than overt fruitiness. On the palate, the wine is refreshing and taut, with racy acidity carrying flavors of citrus pith and orchard fruit into a mineral-tinged mid-palate. The texture is linear rather than lush, with a bracing core of acidity balanced by a touch of citrus rind bitterness on the finish.

About the Producer

Domaine Coulaudin-Bussy is a small family-owned wine estate in the village of Milly, within the Chablis appellation of Burgundy (Bourgogne), northern France. The estate dates back to several generations of winemaking: Henri Coulaudin was of the fifth generation, and his son-in-law, Lionel Bussy, took over in the late 1990s. Since then, the domaine has expanded its vineyard holdings modestly and modernized its cellar while maintaining a focus on expressing site and vintage through classic methods. Coulaudin-Bussy produces traditional Chablis and two Chablis Premier Cru wines from small parcels on the Côte de Léchet and Vaillons slopes. The domaine’s output remains exclusively Chardonnay, which reflects the legal and stylistic requirements of its appellations.
