2018 Wieninger Wiener Trilogie

In the glass, it’s a deep ruby color with purple edges. Aromas lean toward ripe cherry, plum, and blackberry, supported by subtle notes of cocoa, redcurrant, and a light herbal lift. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied, with smooth tannins and dark berry fruit at the core. The warm vintage contributes a rounded texture, while Bisamberg’s natural acidity keeps the wine balanced. The finish carries cherry skin, gentle spice, and a touch of chocolate.

Weingut Wieninger is based in Vienna’s northern districts of Stammersdorf and Bisamberg, an area historically recognized for its mixed agriculture, traditional wine taverns, and a long lineage of field-blend viticulture. The estate is shaped most clearly by Fritz Wieninger, who assumed responsibility for the winery in the late 1980s and helped put Vienna back on the international stage through a focus on quality, single-vineyard expression, and a renewed seriousness toward the region’s hallmark style, Wiener Gemischter Satz.
