Description

From: Tavel, Southern Rhône Valley, France
Varietal: Grenache, Clairette, Syrah, Cinsault

Taste: Deep pink with orange-salmon hues. The aromatic profile opens with crushed raspberry, red currant, and blood orange, layered with rosehip, dried herbs, and flint. The palate is full-bodied and structured for a rosé, offering firm acidity alongside flavors of pomegranate, tangerine peel, and white tea. A broad mid-palate and fine phenolic grip create tension and presence, while the finish lingers with notes of pink peppercorn, saline minerality, and dried strawberry.

Pairing: With its firm acidity and phenolic grip, it pairs well with richly seasoned, protein-driven dishes and warm spices. Tavel’s hallmark intensity and ageability make it a natural partner for Mediterranean cuisine, especially where garlic, tomato, and herbs dominate. Start with general rules: pair with umami-rich or spiced dishes, use texture to balance its tannic edge, and match herbal or savory notes with the wine’s mineral and citrus lift.

About: Château de Manissy is located in Tavel, a commune in the southern Rhône Valley long associated with structured, gastronomic rosés. The property was once operated by the Missionary Fathers of the Holy Family, who began cultivating the estate in the early 20th century. Their wines, made initially for sacramental and daily use, emphasized clarity, structure, and longevity—traits that remain foundational to the house style today. A cuvée originally blended by the Fathers still exists in the lineup, now labeled as "Tavel Tradition," and continues to represent a homage to the estate’s original identity.
