Taste: In the glass, the wine shows a bright ruby hue with translucent edges. Aromatically, it opens with lifted notes of wild strawberry, red cherry, and pomegranate, layered with hints of dried rose petals, blood orange zest, and subtle Mediterranean herbs. On the palate, it is light to medium-bodied, with vivid acidity and fine-grained tannins giving structure to the juicy red fruit core.
Pairing: Frappato’s vibrant acidity and delicate structure make it highly versatile at the table, working particularly well with dishes that have bright, herbal, or umami-driven components. Start with general rules: pair it with lighter proteins, highlight its acidity with tomato-based sauces, and use herbs or earthy elements to echo its savory notes.
About: Valle dell’Acate is based in Acate, a historic winegrowing town in the Ragusa province of southeastern Sicily. The estate has long been associated with the Jacono family, whose viticultural history in this area dates back to the 19th century. The current winery, however, reflects the vision of Gaetana Jacono, who represents the sixth generation of the family to be involved in wine production.
