Tasting Notes

Aromas open with fresh alpine herbs, pear skin, crushed apple, and subtle citrus oil, followed by gentle floral tones and a light earthy spice from the maceration. On the palate, the wine leans more linear and focused than the previous vintage, delivering crisp orchard fruit, blood orange, and delicate red-berry accents.

Pairing Block

Food Pairing

Friulian Ramato’s gentle tannic grip, and layered fruit and herbal notes make it suited to dishes with subtle spice, earth, or savory depth. Its blend of stone fruit, citrus skin, and lightly saline minerality complements cured meats, aromatic vegetables, and preparations with olive oil or fresh herbs, while its texture pairs well with both seafood and lighter meats. The wine matches best with grilled prawns, prosciutto, risotto with mushrooms or squash, and Mediterranean-leaning plates where nuance and gentle umami highlight its distinctive, skin-contact character.

About the Producer

Azienda Agricola Specogna is based in Corno di Rosazzo, in the Friuli Colli Orientali DOC, an area known for its hillside vineyards and a long history of viticulture. The estate began in 1963, when Leonardo Specogna returned to Friuli Venezia Giulia after working in Switzerland and purchased land in the hills of Rocca Bernarda. At the time, the property operated as a mixed farm producing dairy, cereals, and wine for home consumption.

Over time, the family shifted toward specialized viticulture. Leonardo’s son, Graziano, increased the focus on winemaking, improving vineyard health, and expanding the estate’s capacity. This transition laid the groundwork for a more modern winery that could better express the potential of the region’s soils and climate.
