2022 la Vieille Julienne ‘Ceci est un flacon de vin de France’ Rouge

The nose opens with vivid red fruit of cherry, wild strawberry, and pomegranate,  with notes of dried thyme, garrigue, and a hint of cracked pepper. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied and vibrant, emphasizing lift and energy over weight. Juicy red fruit leads, framed by fine, chalky tannins and a subtle saline edge that adds tension through the mid-palate.

The estate covers 20 hectares (50 acres) of old vines in a single contiguous block, an uncommon feature in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. These vineyards are divided among Châteauneuf-du-Pape “Les Trois Sources,” Châteauneuf-du-Pape “Les Hauts-Lieux,” and both red and white Côtes du Rhône “Clavin.” This north-facing site, protected by the slopes and its singular microclimate, has proven remarkably resilient amid the extreme conditions now typical of the southern Rhône. It is this unique exposure that allows La Vieille Julienne to produce wines of balance, tension, and poise even in warm vintages.
