Description
From: Valencia, Spain
Varietal: 80% Garnacha, 20% Syrah
Taste: Delmoro Tinto is a Mediterranean red with great freshness and balance. Its
fruit-driven, approachable palate is perfect for just about any food pairing. This fragrant
red is chock full of bright red fruit, crunchy cherry, and blueberry. Even though it's
pretty light in style, there is a nice kick of grip on the palate to compliment the juicy fruit and spice. The grapes for this wine come from vineyards near the village of Venta del Moro between 15 and 50 years old. The Garnacha that makes up 70% of the blend comes from a 4-ha single vineyard called Guindal, planted in 1987 at 600m. Bush-trained, old-vine syrah makes up the remainder of the blend.
Pairing: This versatile red fits so well with various meals and occasions and is one of
our favorites to bring to a party or a picnic when you’re not sure what the menu will be.
Some ideas for pairing include serving this with garbanzos and greens with chorizo,
braised tongue, empanadas, tacos, burgers, chicken or beef teriyaki, kalbi, Spanish pork skewers, patatas bravas, paella or other rice dishes, and even pizza or pasta.
About. La Comarcal is a collaboration between two winemaking friends: Javi Revert and Victor Marqués. Located in the mountainous village of Venta del Moro in western Valencia, La Comarcal (“The District”) was founded in 2017 with the goal of making delicious, youthful wines—new expressions of native varieties grown in impressive old mountain vineyards. All La Comarcal wines are farmed with certified organic viticulture and vinified with native yeasts.
Grapes for Delmoro Tinto come from vineyards near the village of Venta del Moro,
planted between 15 and 50 years ago. A 4ha single-vineyard called Paraje Guindal,
planted in 1987, contributes the garnacha that makes up 80% of the blend. Bush-
trained, old-vine syrah makes up the remainder. Delmoro Tinto is a Mediterranean red
with great freshness and balance, and afruit-driven, approachable palate perfect for just about any food pairing.
Vinification – After a rigorous selection in the vineyard, each variety is hand-harvested
separately and 70% of the grapes are destemmed and crushed, while 30% are vinified as whole bunches with stem inclusion. Garnacha and syrah are fermented separately in
stainless steel tanks with native yeasts, followed by eight months aging in stainless steel for garnacha and concrete tanks for syrah. The two varieties are then blended and rested before a very light filtration but no fining before bottling.
