Description
From: Neive, Piedmont, Italy
Varietal: Nebbiolo
Taste: This wine displays a ruby red color with slight garnet hues at the rim. The nose is expressive, offering aromas of wild cherry, crushed raspberry, and dried rose petals, layered with hints of anise, orange peel, and a touch of earth. On the palate, it is medium- bodied yet structured, with firm but well- integrated tannins supporting flavors of tart red berries, licorice, and subtle spice. A lively acidity enhances its freshness, leading to a long, finely textured finish with lingering notes of dried herbs and minerality.
Pairing: Nebbiolo' s naturally high acidity and tannic structure make it an excellent companion for dishes that emphasize depth of flavor and umami. Classic pairings include tajarin al ragù, where the richness of the slow- cooked meat sauce melds beautifully with the wine' s bright acidity, or braised beef short ribs, which complement Nebbiolo' s tannins while highlighting its red fruit notes.
About: Giacosa Fratelli began in the late 19th century with four brothers—Leone, Giovanni Battista, Costantino, and Giuseppe—who left their home in Costigliole d’Asti for Neive, a village that became synonymous with their winemaking legacy. Their paths diverged dramatically: Leone met a tragic fate in a hunting accident, Giovanni Battista pursued the priesthood, and Costantino built a different legacy through his son Dante, who went on to design the Fiat Cinquecento. However, it was Giuseppe who followed his passion for the land, determined to create wine from the hills he adored.
