Tasting Notes

Redolent aromas of red cherry, plum skin, and blackberry open the wine, accompanied by subtle hints of violet and warm spice. On the palate, the wine shows Barbera’s characteristic brightness, with lively acidity supporting a core of supple red and dark fruit. Flavors of sour cherry, raspberry, and black plum unfold across the mid-palate, complemented by gentle notes of earth and mineral derived from the Bussia vineyard soils. The tannins remain relatively soft, allowing the wine’s freshness to remain central, while a clean and energetic finish carries lingering fruit and light spice.

About the Producer

Giacosa Fratelli is a traditional, fifth generation, family-run estate based in Neive in the heart of Barbaresco, part of Italy’s Piedmont. The winery works with estate vineyards across Barbaresco and nearby Langhe sites, focusing primarily on Nebbiolo while also producing Barbera and other regional varieties. Their approach is classic and restrained, with careful vineyard management and relatively traditional cellar practices, including extended maceration and aging in large oak casks rather than heavy new barrique. The wines emphasize structure, aromatic clarity, and a clear expression of site, offering a style that balances accessibility with the firm tannins and acidity typical of Nebbiolo from this part of Piedmont.
