Description

From: Barolo, Piedmont, Italy
Varietal: Dolcetto

Taste: In the glass, the wine presents a deep ruby-purple hue with bright violet reflections. Aromas are immediately lifted, with notes of crushed blackberries, ripe plum, and fresh violets leading the way. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and plush, marked by flavors of black cherry, blueberry, and a subtle undercurrent of almond skin. Gentle tannins lend it a soft yet defined structure, while moderate acidity provides balance and approachability. The finish is clean and fruit-driven, with a hint of bitter cocoa and wild herbs adding depth.

Pairing: Dolcetto’s moderate tannins and fruit-forward style make it a flexible red for pairing with a range of everyday meals. Its soft structure works well with dishes that feature roasted vegetables, charred meats, or light tomato-based sauces. Classic Piedmontese pairings include tajarin pasta with sausage ragù or veal tonnato. The wine also pairs well with casual fare, such as thin-crust mushroom pizza, pork schnitzel, or a roast chicken with olives and rosemary.

About: Enzo Bartoli wines are produced in Barolo, a town in the province of Cuneo, Piedmont, Italy. Unlike many long-standing estates in the Langhe, Enzo Bartoli is not the product of generational vineyard ownership. Instead, it was established as a contemporary Piedmontese project by the IWB (Italian Wine Brands) group. The wines are produced at facilities throughout Barolo and its surrounding areas, featuring a portfolio that represents classic Piedmont appellations, characterized by a clean, accessible, and polished style. The aim is to capture the region's identity without veering into heavily extracted or overly modern styles.
