From: Saint-Amour, Beaujolais, France
Varietal: Gamay
Taste: The nose opens with vibrant aromas of fresh red berries, particularly strawberry and cherry, intertwined with subtle notes of blueberry. This fruit-forward bouquet is layered with floral hints of violet, adding elegance, alongside subtle touches of licorice and a whisper of white pepper for spice.
On the palate, the 2022 is juicy and generous, with a rounded, full-bodied profile that carries the red and dark fruit flavors through each sip. The wine is well-balanced, with a seamless blend of fresh acidity and soft tannins, giving it structure and lift. A fine mineral undertone and a hint of spice linger on the finish, enhancing its complexity and leaving a memorable impression.
Pairing: Begin with Coq au Vin with Mushrooms, a rich, slow-cooked Beaujolais favorite. The chicken and mushrooms, steeped in wine and herbs, highlight the Saint-Amour’s earthy, savory side while enhancing its spice and berry notes. Another traditional pairing, Andouillette Sausage with Mustard Sauce, complements the wine's peppery, licorice undertones. The creamy mustard sauce accentuates the wine’s fresh acidity, creating a balanced and flavorful experience.

About: Domaine de la Pirolette, established in the 1600s, is a historic winery in the heart of Saint-Amour, a village in the Beaujolais region of France. The estate derives its name from the "Pirole," a delicate white flower native to the area.
2013, the Barbet family, led by Grégory and Virginie Barbet, acquired the estate. Recognizing the property's potential, they embarked on extensive renovations of the vineyards and the winery facilities. Their dedication to viticulture and winemaking earned the estate the affectionate nickname "the passionate bunch” from their neighbors.
