Tasting Notes

In the glass, this shows a deep crimson color with purple edges. The nose opens with lifted floral notes layered over fresh red fruit of cherry, red plum, and raspberry, followed by subtle spice. On the palate, it is smooth and well-shaped, combining juicy red fruit with a silky mid-palate and fine, ripe tannins. The finish is clean and lightly savory, with gentle spice and freshness carrying through.

Pairing Block

Food Pairing

This versatile, food-friendly Douro red pairs best with dishes built around savory depth rather than heavy richness. Think grilled or roasted meats, herb-driven preparations, and dishes with natural umami. It pairs well with grilled chicken thighs with paprika and garlic, pork chops with rosemary and olive oil, or Portuguese-style bifanas. Tomato-based dishes, such as roasted sausages with peppers and onions, pair well with the wine’s red-fruit and spice notes.

About the Producer

Symington Family Estates is one of the most important family-owned wine groups in Portugal and a defining presence in the Douro Valley. The family’s involvement in the region began in the late 1800s, when British merchant families with Portuguese roots established Port houses along the Douro River and in Vila Nova de Gaia. Over five generations, the Symingtons consolidated vineyards, quintas, and winemaking operations, becoming particularly known for historic Port brands such as Graham’s, Dow’s, Warre’s, and Cockburn’s. Today, the company remains fully family-owned, with multiple members of the fourth and fifth generations actively involved across viticulture, winemaking, and long-term strategy.
