Taste: This pours a light, vivid red in the glass. The nose layers cherry fruit with pine, pencil shavings, and vanilla, accented by subtle resin and spice notes. On the palate, it is energetic and focused, with flavors of raspberry, cocoa pod, and a savory note reminiscent of caramelized pork and a saline edge.
Critical Acclaim: “A deep but transparent, youthful electric ruby, the 2021 Pinot Noir Antoinette is high-toned and floral, with notes of fresh pine needles, mint, grenadine, and wildflowers. Medium-bodied, with good tension, it has a fresh herbal slanting tone on the palate and notes of wet asphalt on the finish.” 93 Points, Jeb Dunnuck, Wine.com
“This lithe and graceful Pinot Noir is made with fruit from a 40-year-old block at Temperance Hill Vineyard. Earthy aromas of loamy soil and oregano flirt with tart boysenberries and bbq short ribs. Raspberry fruit and traces of peach and espresso are nicely balanced with velvety tannins and crisp acidity. Enjoy now until 2032.” 91 points, Michael Alberty, Wine Enthusiast
Pairing: Antoinette’s balance of freshness, savory nuance, and firm structure makes it ideal for roasted or braised dishes that emphasize herbs or earthy components, match richness with the wine’s bright acidity, and avoid overly sweet glazes. Roast duck with cherry sauce highlights its rich, red-fruited depth, and herb-crusted lamb chops complement its pine and savory notes.
About: J.K. Carriere is based in Newberg, within Oregon’s Willamette Valley, where founder and winemaker Jim Prosser has shaped the estate into one of the valley’s distinctive small producers. The winery was established in 1999, named after Jim’s grandfathers J.K. Prosser and Paul Carriere, as a nod to the family’s influence on his path.
