Description

From: Lake Chelan, Washington
Varietal: Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec

Taste: In the glass, the wine shows a deep ruby color with a slight garnet rim. Aromas lead with dark cherry, blackcurrant, and ripe plum, followed by notes of cedar, clove, and a faint graphite edge. On the palate, it opens with rich dark fruit and cocoa powder, layered with black pepper, dried herbs, and warm baking spice. The mid-palate is supple yet structured, showing fine-grained tannins that are balanced by fresh acidity. The finish lingers with hints of crushed violets and subtle minerality.

Pairing: This red blend’s balance of fruit, structure, and spice makes it a good pairing with hearty, flavor-driven dishes. Its moderate tannins and vibrant acidity pair well with grilled meats and roasted preparations—try it with marinated lamb skewers, spice-rubbed pork shoulder, or a smoky chipotle beef stew.

About: Amos Rome Vineyards is located in Manson, Washington, on the north shore of Lake Chelan. This small town in the Lake Chelan AVA has grown into one of Washington’s most exciting emerging wine regions, thanks in part to its ancient glacial soils, intense diurnal temperature swings, and the climate-moderating influence of the lake itself. Founded by the Pettigrew family and led by winemaker Travis Clark, Amos Rome is an estate winery producing small-lot, vineyard-driven wines with a clear sense of place.

Bighorn is the second label of Amos Rome Vineyards, created to offer a more accessible line of wines that complement the estate’s main bottlings. While Amos Rome focuses on estate-grown, small-lot, site-expressive wines from the Lake Chelan AVA, the Bighorn label enables the team to work with a broader range of fruit sources and styles, often at a more approachable price point.
