Tasting Notes

The nose layers dried citrus peel, quince, and chamomile with orchard-fruit notes and a light savory tone from extended skin contact. On the palate, it is medium-bodied but firmly structured, showing tannins typical of Kakhetian qvevri wines. Flavors move toward dried apricot, orange oil, spiced tea, and apple skin, supported by a subtle earthy element from qvevri fermentation

Pairing Block

Food Pairing

Kisi in a full qvevri style works best with dishes that match its texture, gentle tannin, and aromatic depth. Think in terms of foods with herbs, spices, and layered richness rather than delicate or lightly seasoned preparations. Georgian dishes like chicken with tkemali (a tart plum sauce), chanakhi (a slow-cooked lamb and vegetable stew), or herb-forward pkhali (finely chopped vegetable-and-herb spreads) balance the wine’s tannic structure and citrus-driven aromatics.

About the Producer

Vazisubani Estate is located in the village of Vazisubani in the Gurjaani district of Kakheti, a part of eastern Georgia long known for its traditional qvevri winemaking and large concentration of indigenous grape varieties. The core of the property is a 19th-century palace built by Georgian nobleman Sulkhan Chavchavadze, who was born in 1869 and later developed the estate and its vineyards in 1891.
