Taste: In the glass, it is a deep ruby color with violet highlights. Aromas of ripe black cherry, cassis, and plum, followed by cedar, graphite, and hints of violet. On the palate, it is supple yet focused, showing the roundness of Merlot layered with the structure and length of Cabernet Sauvignon. Flavors of dark fruit and cocoa are lifted by fresh acidity and framed by fine, polished tannins. The finish lingers with notes of graphite, spice, and a touch of savory oak.
Pairing: Think in terms of balance and structure. Choose dishes with enough richness to complement the wine’s depth, but with savory, herb-driven, or earthy components that let its freshness and fine tannins shine.
About: Les Tourelles de Longueville is the second wine of Château Pichon Baron, one of Pauillac’s historic Second Growth estates situated on the Left Bank of Bordeaux. The wine takes its name from the château’s distinctive turrets (“les tourelles”), a hallmark of the estate’s nineteenth-century architecture. It was created to showcase a softer, earlier-drinking expression of Pichon Baron’s vineyards while preserving the precision and character that define the grand vin.
