Description
From: Roa de Duero, Ribera del Duero, Spain
Varietal: Merlot
Taste: In the glass, the wine presents a deep, opaque ruby with purple highlights along the rim. The nose is expressive, opening with ripe blackberry, cassis, and dark cherry, followed by secondary notes of graphite, licorice, and mocha.
Pairing: Merlot’s medium tannin structure and ripe fruit profile make it a good for pairing with dishes that incorporate both richness and acidity. Pair this wine with proteins that are roasted or grilled, or dishes featuring earthy or umami-forward components.
About: Finca La Capilla is located in Roa de Duero, a town centrally situated in Spain’s Ribera del Duero DO. The estate was established in 1998 under the name Bodegas Robeal by Juan Miñón, who planted 160 acres of Tempranillo vines across four prestigious municipalities: Roa de Duero, Anguix, La Horra, and Fuentecén. The estate quickly earned attention for its vineyard holdings in some of Ribera’s most heralded subzones, and a winery capable of aging 2,000 barrels was constructed in Roa to manage production.
