From: Burgundy, France
Varietals: 90% Pinot Noir, 10% Gamay
Tasting Notes: Enticing aromas of ripe red and black cherries as well as baking spices drift from the glass, promising a sip filled with intensity and tension. This wine is silky on the palate, dripping with voluptuous, concentrated red fruits accompanied by a hint of pepper and light tannins on the finish.
Pairing: This wine deserves to be enjoyed with a dish equally as pure and decadent. We’d recommend David Tanis’ recipe for Slow-Roasted Duck With Mashed White Beans, Sizzled Herbs and Olives.
“This 20-hectare domaine ranks as the finest winery in the Côte Chalonnaise. Organic farming, cultivated soils and virtuosic winemaking combine to striking effect, yielding textural but incisive whites and perfumed, supple reds that number among my favorite wines in Burgundy…Plenty will find a place in my own cellar, and I couldn’t recommend them to readers more warmly than that.” –William Kelley, Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
