Description
From: McMinnville, Willamette Valley, Oregon
Varietal: Pinot Noir
Taste: Medium ruby in color with clear edges. On the nose, aromas of raspberry, black cherry, and dried rose are layered with hints of savory herbs, black tea, and a touch of cedar. The palate is medium-bodied and bright, driven by a core of red and dark berry fruit balanced by firm acidity and fine-grained tannins. A vein of minerality and spice emerges mid-palate, leading to a clean, focused finish with echoes of earth and dried thyme.
Pairing: The structure and vibrancy of this Pinot Noir make it adaptable. Its red fruit and savory undertones work well with roasted poultry, duck confit, or a simple herb-marinated chicken. The wine’s acidity can handle tomato-based dishes—try it with eggplant involtini or turkey meatballs in tomato sugo.
About: Westrey Wine Company operates from McMinnville, Oregon, in the Willamette Valley. Founded in 1993 by Amy Wesselman and David Autrey, Westrey is a partnership in shared experience and a long-term vision for Oregon Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Both founders bring academic and practical training in enology to the winery: Amy studied fermentation science at UC Davis and worked harvests at Bethel Heights, while David honed his skills at Rex Hill. Their paths converged at Cameron Winery under the mentorship of John Paul, where their philosophy around restrained winemaking and vineyard expression began to take shape.
