Description
From: McMinnville, Willamette Valley, Oregon
Varietal: Pinot Noir
Taste:In the glass, the wine shows a clear garnet hue with ruby edges. On the nose, aromas of red cherry, wild strawberry, and dried rose petals lead, followed by forest floor, baking spice, and a subtle smoky edge from the oak. The palate is vibrant and structured, with a fine line of acidity supporting flavors of cranberry, black tea, and crushed herbs. Tannins are firm but well-integrated, suggesting additional development potential. The finish is long and savory, carrying tones of red fruit, clove, and mineral tension.
Pairing: Pinot Noir from the Dundee Hills, especially in a warm vintage like 2015, has enough concentration and tannic frame to pair with a wide range of food. To highlight the wine’s freshness and spice, look for foods that combine earthy, herbal, and umami-driven elements. Roasted poultry—like duck breast with thyme and red wine jus—or herb-crusted pork loin are excellent choices.
About: Westrey Wine Company operates from McMinnville, Oregon, in the Willamette Valley. Founded in 1993 by Amy Wesselman and David Autrey, Westrey is a partnership in shared experience and a long-term vision for Oregon Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Both founders bring academic and practical training in enology to the winery: Amy studied fermentation science at UC Davis and worked harvests at Bethel Heights, while David honed his skills at Rex Hill. Their paths converged at Cameron Winery under the mentorship of John Paul, where their philosophy around restrained winemaking and vineyard expression began to take shape.
