Taste: In the glass, the wine shows a pale gold hue with a fine, persistent bead. Aromas lift with ripe orchard fruit, including pear, apple, and quince, layered over citrus zest, white flowers, and subtle pastry notes from extended lees aging. On the palate, it is taut and precise, driven by brisk acidity and a chalky mineral edge. There is supple fruit and mid-palate roundness, with a balance between richness and tension. The finish lingers with saline minerality and delicate herbal notes.
About: The Ponson family in Champagne has a history that stretches back five generations in the Petite Montagne de Reims. The family first began farming vines in the early 20th century, when Paul and Juliette Ponson cultivated plots around Coulommes-la-Montagne. In 1904, their son Albert was born, and by the 1920s, he had established his own vineyards. His marriage to Daisy Gadiot of Vrigny, the daughter of another winegrowing family, expanded their holdings and linked two key sites in the region.
