From: Loire Valley, France
Varietal: Melon de Bourgogne
It is hard to believe when meeting Jérémie Huchet that he has been in charge of the family domaine for more than twelve years; he really does not look old enough. The Muscadet region has struggled to adapt to changing tastes in wine and has been hit by a run of poor harvests leaving many growers unable to continue in business and reducing the size of the appellation by 40%. Against this trend Jérémie is expanding with his recent purchase of the organically farmed Château de la Templerie.
Tasting Notes: Pale yellow color with light greenish reflections. Its nose has a great intensity showing white flowers (acacia) notes and some pear as well. Its mouth is mineral, saline and crispy with a sparkle, developing citrus notes before rounding itself off.
Pairing: Grown at the mouth of the Loire, this wine is the traditional French accompaniment to Atlantic oysters and other seafood. Light in body, lean in presence, taut in energy, and vibrant in acidity, it is the perfect accompaniment for fish and bivalves.
