Description
From: Calahorra, Rioja Oriental, Spain
Varietal: Tempranillo Blanco
Taste: The wine shines pale straw with a silvery rim in the glass. The nose opens with bright aromas of citrus blossom, white peach, and fresh-cut pear, followed by faint hints of jasmine, aniseed, and wet stones. The palate delivers a sleek and linear mouthfeel, driven by crisp acidity and saline tension. Notes of lemon zest, green apple, and melon carry through to the mid-palate, layered with a gentle herbal edge and subtle almond tones. The finish is persistent and mineral, leaving a clean, refreshing impression.
Pairing: Tempranillo Blanco’s crisp profile and slight phenolic edge make it a great pairing for dishes with acidity, herbal aromatics, or creamy textures. It works well with prepared seafood like grilled sardines or branzino with fennel and citrus. It is perfect alongside Spanish tapas like marinated white anchovies (boquerones), or tortilla Española with aioli. Fresh vegetable-based dishes—such as a spring salad with shaved fennel, green apple, and tarragon vinaigrette—enhance the wine’s freshness.
About: Navarrsotillo is based in Calahorra, a city in the Rioja Oriental subzone of Spain’s famed Rioja DOCa. The winery was officially established in 1995 by brothers Andrés and Ramón Serrano, but their viticultural roots trace back to the early 1970s when their father planted the family's first vineyards. The name “Navarrsotillo” is drawn from the historic village near Calahorra where the family has long maintained agricultural ties.
