Calling all Francophiles!
We've been dreaming about the day when "affordable and amazing" included French wines - especially those from cool climates, once again.
Well, folks, today is that day!
2022 Jean-Marie Reverdy "Charme de Loire" Sauvignon Blanc
Jean-Marie Reverdy’s 2022 “Charme de Loire” Sauvignon Blanc has a bright, elegant perfume showing flavors of ripe citrus, fresh apple, white peach, and whispers of tropical fruits. The palate introduces a delightful balance of these open fruit flavors, complemented by a zippy acidity and distinctive limestone-derived minerality.
2022 Puy-Servain Calabre "Taïac" Sauvignon Blanc IGP Périgord
Sauvignon Blanc from Bordeaux (and adjacent vineyards, such as here) has its own charm. Completely different from Loire Valley Sauvignon Blanc, the fruit leans toward slightly ripe notes and away from pure minerality and grapefruit. Read: less acid, more yellow, and a hint of orchard fruit, and though it has its own minerality, these white wines are a great alternative to the popular New Zealand wines.
2021 Marquis de Surblet Chinon Cabernet Franc
Aromas of dark bing cherries and blackcurrant enveloped in leather & graphite, right alongside dusty pepper. The taste is rounded out by a touch of spice and slight undertones of herbaceousness (imagine the invigorating smells you might encounter on a walk along the forest floor). Fine-grained tannins round out the finish, and this wine ends on a high note with fresh black fruit and leather calling for another sip and a bite to eat.
2020 Chateau de Varennes Beaujolais-Villages
Violets and peonies interlaced with raspberry and blackcurrant. On the palate, a mix of refreshing and medium-bodied notes, culminating in a lingering finish that shows off the vivid flavors of ripe fruits.
2019 Tour de Biot Bordeaux Rouge
A wonderful, velvety Bordeaux that has a pretty young garnet color. The nose is distinctive and alluring, with ripe forest fruit aromas backed by floral notes and spices. Attractive pure black cherry and plum flavors on the palate boasting delicious freshness and fruit balance. Soft, supple, smooth tannins, with a long finish. Hints of cassis and attractive dusty tannins.
2021 Vignerons d'Estezargues Cuvee des Galets Cotes du Rhone Rouge
Aromas of just-ripened raspberries, black berries, and plum skin with a touch of Mediterranean herbs, violet and a pleasant hint of baking spice. On the palate, these flavors continue, and the wine is delightfully focused around its fruit all while maintaining a light and mildly spicy body with rounded, silky tannins and a medium finish.
