Blend: 49% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot, 22% Malbec, 7% Cabernet Franc
From: Walla Walla Valley, Washington
Taste: The NV Foundry Vineyards Red Blend from Walla Walla Valley, Washington, presents a beautiful deep ruby color in the glass. The nose opens with a vibrant bouquet of black fruit, showcasing blackberries, black cherries, and cassis, intermingled with a delightful spice box aroma that hints at cloves, cinnamon, and allspice. On the palate, this well-structured wine offers a harmonious blend of the Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec, and Cabernet Franc, with cassis and blackberry flavors taking center stage. The elegant front and mid-mouth feel is supported by a balanced acidity that brings freshness and longevity to the wine, while the dusty tannins provide a firm backbone, seamlessly integrating with the fruit and spice components. The finish is long and lingering, with a gentle touch of spice that leaves you yearning for another sip.
Pairing: The NV Foundry Vineyards Red Blend pairs beautifully with a variety of dishes, owing to its bold flavors and well-rounded structure. For a general pairing option, consider serving this wine alongside a succulent rib eye steak or a hearty beef stew, where the rich, robust flavors of the meat will complement the wine's fruit and spice components. A classic lasagna, with its layers of savory tomato sauce, cheese, and pasta, would also make for an excellent pairing.
For vegetarian options, consider dishes that feature earthy, hearty ingredients, such as mushrooms, eggplants, peppers, and squash. A mushroom stroganoff or a roasted vegetable ratatouille would highlight the wine's dark fruit flavors and complement its spicy notes. Additionally, consider serving this wine with a dish featuring bold, flavorful cheese, such as a bleu cheese-stuffed portobello mushroom or a rich, creamy bleu cheese risotto. The piquant characteristics of the bleu cheese will harmonize with the wine's tannins and acidity, creating a delightful pairing that highlights the best of both the wine and the dish.

About. Foundry Vineyards is dedicated to the creation of finely crafted low intervention wines that express the unique terroir of their vineyard. Each hand-crafted wine is overseen from the wine to bottle and the grapes are rigorously selected from the best lots. The award-winning wines produced are created with a combination of estate grown fruit from the Walla Walla Valley and thoughtfully sourced small-lot production from premier growing areas around Washington State. Foundry's commitment to limited production size, around 2,500 cases annually, ensures that each wine matures to their full potential and showcases the philosophy of quality over quantity.
With deep roots in contemporary art and the Walla Walla Foundry, Foundry Vineyards hopes to reflect the spirit of artistic expression in each wine and to continue to be creative with each vintage.
Winemaker Jay Anderson highlights the creativity of winemaking using a variety of methods to make wines in a range of styles - perfect for any and every occasion. Initially focused on traditional Bordeaux-style wines from the Walla Walla Valley, Jay has expanded Foundry's program to include Rhône varietals, sparkling wines, new vineyards and innovative wine-making techniques. His approach is one of low intervention, focusing on vineyard management and minimal inputs. He works diligently in the estate, Stone marker, to cultivate rich, well-balanced, organic fruit- the foundation for select single-varietal wines and the flagship Artisan Blend. Jay actively searches for new vineyards to add to Foundry's portfolio that highlight sustainable vineyard practices. From Foundry Vineyards' single varietal series to his natural sparkling line, pétproject, each of Jay's wines are a true testament of fruit and site.
